Cutler and Co. is a fine dining restaurant set in a casual and relaxed setting. It is the only fine dining restaurant of Chef Andrew McConnell. In 2017, Chef Andrew McConnell gave this place a makeover, and it is better than before. Newly introduced bar snacks and improved menu works wonder for the restaurant. The restaurant recently celebrated its 10th anniversary.
There is an A La Carte menu, Chef’s selection menu and a classic Sunday lunch menu. A La Carte menu is ideal for sharing. Chef Andrew McConnell creates the dishes using exceptional produce. Dishes are inspired by Japanese and Europian cuisine and remain faithful to Melbourne’s culture. Cutler and Co dining room has a perfect blend of colour and texture that gives a sense of taste.
The highlight of the menu is tender suckling pig with Japanese turnips and mustard leaf. You can taste the impact of every technique and ingredient in the dish. An autumn vegetable plate has little radishes with pumpkin puree. Beef pastrami is really juicy and carefully spiced. They serve it with various pickled, smoked, sweet and sharp side dishes. Fried skin is cooked through with utmost accuracy. It comes with charred cucumber and brown butter.
A Chef’s Selection offers a balanced and extensive menu created by Andrew McConnell and head chef Colin Mainds. The dishes on the list are ever-changing. Your go-to dessert dish is Chocolate Delice. They cater to special dietary requirement, but you need to inform the restaurant in advance. They offer an outstanding selection of wine. At the bar, seafood platters and abalone katsu sandwich are unmissable. Cocktails are created using great spirits, aperitifs and digestives. The bar menu includes more filling dishes such as cheeseburger and pasta.
You don't need a reservation to get a seat on the bar. The bar is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 5 pm to late. The restaurant is open for Lunch on Sunday from noon and for Dinner from Tuesday to Sunday from 6 pm to late. Online reservations are available for a group of 1-6 guests.
They also have a private dining room that can accommodate up to 50 guests. It is on Gertrude Street. It is only 11 minutes drive from Melbourne CBD. If you intend to enjoy at the bar, hiring a car is better. Best way to travel there in a group is to hire a minibus from hireabus.com.
